Well Brett, I guess we can throw away our "Sales" contract. I am EXTREMELY happy and AMAZED you were able to rent it so fast and for such a great rate!! How do y'all do that? Where do you get the renters? Can you tell me a little about who has rented my place? Is it a family? Age? Occupation? Do they work in the area? I still can't get over and I'm so curious of who rents a house without a stove or refrigerator!?! I am impressed, and I have 2 in Shilohh down here to rent if you'd like to work y'all's magic on them!

Brett, I also would like to express how much I have liked working with Ryan. Having worked with many other contractors, this is the BEST experience I have ever had! Ryan is extremely knowledgeable, organized and professional, yet he his friendly, accessible, and easy to EXPECTS AND GETS THE BEST from fellow REBELS!!!

Prior to meeting the team at Apex, I owned two rental properties, both of which I placed tenants in after living there as my primary residence. I knew I wanted more properties but I was stuck. I began investing in real estate in August 2004 by renting the personal home that I just moved out of. As 2005 began, the situation with my first house was running smoothly, so I decided to further explore the rental business. Cautious and green as they come, I really had no idea where to begin. I owe all my success to the mentoring and friendship of Kent Clothier. I have never read a real estate book, and I have never attended a seminar or boot camp. What I did do was put my trust in Kent and in his investment experiences and philosophies. I have known Kent Clothier for almost 25 years, since 1985. A friend of mine and I decided to start investing in real estate in January, 2005, in the Memphis, TN area. We both were, and still are employed full time, but wanted to start investing as a supplement to our retirement. I had learned that Kent sat on a panel of local real estate investors, so I called him to let him know that I was interested in getting started as an investor. Kent offered his help, and my partner & I met with him for lunch to discuss investing. As it turned out, Kent helped us through the entire investing process: from buying, to rehabbing, to renting. 

We formed our company and bought our first house in late February, 2005. We subsequently purchased about 30 properties with Kent's help through November, 2006. We originally had all of our properties managed by a management company, but decided to take that part of the business over in June of 2007.

We've made a lot of contacts over the last 4+ years and are now finding properties on our own, but we still talk to Kent and bounce ideas and suggestions off of each other. We now have 38 residential properties and 1 commercial property. If you are wondering why it took us so long to go from 30 to 38 properties, we slowed down a little on buying when we began to manage our properties and had to learn that side of the business. Plus we are probably a little pickier about which houses we buy and for how much. I've made several offers for #39 but have lost out on each one but I know there is always another one around the corner to try to get. I'm looking at one now so maybe it will be #39!

We had originally thought that our business would be flipping houses, and after discussing the different options with Kent, we decided to go the route of buy and hold to build long-term wealth. The one thing that I would have done differently ................... start investing earlier in life!
